Statue of St. Theresa stolen from church

Guysborough County District RCMP is seeking public assistance in a break-in investigation at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Giants Lake, which included the theft of a four-foot statue of Saint Theresa.

On May 17, Guysborough County District RCMP responded to a report of a break-in at a church on Narrow Lake Rd. in Giants Lake near South River Lake Road. RCMP officers learned that the break-in had occurred sometime between midnight on May 13 and 12:45 p.m. on May 17.

Investigators determined that access to the church was gained by damaging the back door.

Although the church is not used on a regular basis, Christmas Eve mass is held on site yearly.
